Food Network is set to launch their new channel, called simply the Cooking Channel, May 31st. Like its sister channel, the Cooking Channel will offer 24-7 food programmming. A few Food Network vets like Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay will pull a double shift on the new channel. The Cooking Channel will be a little grittier, younger, and comtemporary than Food Network. Emphasis will be placed on international cusines, drinks, food culture, and advanced cooking techniques.
The Cooking Channel will offer a slew of new, old, and imported shows. Some shows on Food Network Canada will also air on the Cooking Channel. One such show is "Food Jammers," which is about three Canadian guys and their goofy culinary inventions such as 3-D pizza. The channel will also bring in shows from England such as "Indian Food Made Easy". Just like Food Network, the Cooking Channel will emphasize the T.V. personalities of their hosts. Expect some interesting and perhaps a bit maniacal characters. Check your local cable/satellite provider for details.
