Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

This television series caused quite the fuss in Huntington, West Virginia, statistically one of the most unhealthiest cities in the nation. Slated for six episodes, Jamie Oliver has traveled to this city in an effort to change the school food program. Some key highlights was when he went to a class of 1st graders and asked them to identify several fruits and vegetables. They were unable to identify one item. They are served hugely processed foods such as pizza, sloppy joes, hamburgers, and corn dogs. The milk options are regular milk, strawberry, and chocolate. Most of the kids pick one of the latter two that both contain huge amounts of sugar.

This series is an eye-opener for parents who have children that normally eat their school's food program options. It remains to be seen if Jamie can successfully change the eating habits of a town that the majority of people are considered obsese. Ultimately, its the parents that must stand up and demand healthier food options for their children at school and provide it at home as well. 5/5
